How To Fix Windows 10 Update Errors?

Windows 10 Update Errors:

Question 1:- Recently I have upgraded to windows 10, though I did not upgraded. It automatically updated itself. I want to use Windows previous version that I was using earlier. Is there any solution to go back for previous version?

Ans:- Upgrading to Windows 10 is a matter of choice. However sometimes it is automatically being updated. Here, we have some good news for you. You can go to the previous version if Windows 10 has been installed automatically in your PC.

There are 2 Scenarios: 1. Stop Windows 10 Installing Automatically

2.    Windows 10 Installed Already! How Do I Go Back?

1.      How To Stop Windows 10 Installing Automatically

Now you can stop Windows 10 installation automatically. You can use either Never10 or GWX Control Panel to stop Windows 10 to install automatically.

A)  Never10 – can be downloaded here and its key quality is simplicity. The app is tiny (85kb) and only needs to be run once. You get the option to ‘Remove Win10 files’ and this tweaks your registry to always reject Windows 10 upgrade attempts. As a bonus it also deletes the 6GB+ of secret Windows 10 installation files every Windows 7 and Windows 8 has hidden on their computer.

B) GWX Control Panel – can be downloaded here and is the option for those not satisfied with Never10’s faith in Microsoft. It is a program which runs in the background and continually monitors your system for signs an attempt to upgrade your computer to Windows 10 might begin. It also updates regularly.

Note: – You’ll get regular notifications that your computer is protected and all is well.

And its control panel is more difficult than Never10.

2.                Windows 10 Installed Already! How Do I Go Back?

Unfortunately for many, the prompt to install Never10 or GWX Control Panel will come too late – you already have Windows 10 on your PC and you don’t know how or why.

You can reverse back to your previous version of Windows.

Note: – For the first month you have Windows 10, Microsoft offers a rollback facility to return you to whichever operating system you used before be it Windows 7 or Windows 8. To access it follow this path:

Settings > Update & Security > Recovery

Depending which version of Windows you had previously, you will then be presented with the option “Go back to Windows 7” or “Go back to Windows 8.1”.

Question 2:- I have recently upgraded my PC to Windows 10. I have noticed that after upgrading it, the battery is draining too quickly. Is there any solution to save battery?

Users who have upgraded the system to Windows 10 may have found that the new Operating System drains the battery very quickly.

To sort out this problem, Intel and Microsoft workded together, so make sure your drivers are up-to-date and you should find it resolved.

Reasons of battery draining are:-

1)                Cortana Feature:- If not, you might want to turn attention to some of Windows 10’s new features. Though Cortana, the virtual assistant, can come in very handy, she does impact the battery slightly. If you want to reserve all the power you can, do a system search for Cortana, select the relevant result, then switch Let Cortana respond to Hey Cortana to Off.

2)              Windows Update can also have a drain on your battery (and bandwidth); especially now that it can share updates you’ve downloaded with others. To turn this off, press Windows Key + I and then navigate to Update & security > Windows Update > Advanced options > Choose how updates are delivered and move the switch to Off.

Other methods to save battery:-

1)            Battery Saver: – To access Battery Saver settings press Windows logo tab and I and go to System. You’ll spot Battery Saver in the left-hand column. From here you can toggle the Battery Saver settings, including the automatic saver threshold, and which applications can continue receiving updates.

2)           Turn OFF Windows Update Deliver Optimization: – To off the Windows Update Deliver Optimization, head to Settings (Windows + I) > Update & security > Windows Update > Advanced options > Choose how updates are delivered, and either switch to PCs on my local network or turn the feature off entirely.

3)   Using Command Prompt:-

a)               The powercfg –devicequery wake_armed command will show you what’s waking you up and consuming battery. You can then track down any unwanted processes and turn them off.

b)              You can also use powercfg /a to see the various sleep states your system can use. Those devices using Windows 8, 8.1, or 10, and with specific hardware designs can make use of the Standby (Connected)tool, but it isn’t available on every device. This tool enables your sleeping system to still notify you if a Skype call comes through, or if you receive a priority email, but amazingly uses no-more battery than regular sleep.

c)               Perhaps most useful of all is the powercfg /energy command. This command tracks your system usage for 60 seconds and generates a power report illustrating your system energy efficiency,

d)              Finally, use powercfg /batteryreport to generate an up-to-date analysis of your battery, including charge ratings, number of cycles, and a recent history of battery use/charge periods.

These methods will sort out the problem of battery drainage. If the problem is still there, you can contact us.

Question 3:- Quick Access in Windows 10 is not working.

Recently I upgraded to Windows 10. After a few weeks, Quick Access stopped working. How can I solve this problem?

Ans:- If you find that Quick Access is broken or not working in Windows 10, then this post may be able to help you fix the problem. Quick Access is a new feature in Windows 10 File Explorer navigation pane. This feature is useful, as it helps users quickly navigate to locations which are frequently used by you, as well those, which were recently used by you. If you have no use for it, you can however always disable Quick Access in the Navigation Pane of File Explorer.

Method 1:- Re-enabling Quick Access: – First disable Quick Access and then r-enable it and see if it helps.

If not, then open File Explorer and paste the following folder paths in the address bar and hit Enter.

·         %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations

·         %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations

Once the folder is opened, press Ctrl+A to select all its contents. Now right-click and select Delete, to delete all the files in the folder.

Do the same for both the above-mentioned folders.

Restart your Windows 10 computer and see if it has helped fix the problem.

Method 2:- Run the System Maintenance troubleshooter. It will resolve the common system problems and check if it helps.

1. Right click on Start Menu.

2. Type “Troubleshooting” without the quotes on search box and click on Troubleshooting.

3. Then click on View All on the left panel of the screen.

4. Click on System Maintenance.

5. Click on Next and follow the instructions.

If the issues still persist, refer to the below methods.

Method 3: Perform a System File Checker

1. Right click on Start Menu.

2. Click on Command Prompt (Admin).

3. Then type ”sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit on Enter Key.

Note: – Command prompt method must be used by an expert in cmd.
